Tagging onto this (optimistically) that it’s possible the interviewer meant ‘camp’ in a positive sense, like in the way “cheesy 80’s movies” are now looked on lovingly, instead of with derision. However, this sweater and the shoes are not nearly audacious enough to be ‘camp,’ and isn’t as flamboyant as even some other shirts he’s worn

The British press has an… interesting history with how it interviews and portays people, so imo, between this and the, “look at the happy couple!”- type comments they make about him and Michael Sheen, there’s this thin veil of “I’m calling you gay, but I won’t say it to your face.”

I’ve never been to the UK, mind you, but it seems a bit behind the United States, and this was the sort of attitude toward androgyny of any kind back in 2010-ish 🤷‍♀️

tl;dr The interviewer really said “wow you look really gay and tacky :)” and didn’t even have the balls to say it directly lol
